For this post I’ve done a little something different from the norm. I took artistic liberties that I normally don’t do. A few nights ago I was on the Oregon Coast enjoying a ridiculously beautiful sunset at Ecola State Park and got into a position where Tillamook Rock Lighthouse stood out perfectly against the sky. Decommissioned in 1957, the lighthouse has been dark for decades but I decided to add the missing light to complete my image. Purists may find exception to my addition, but as I was making the image on a chilly winter night, I was imagining this as my final image on location. I pumped up the colors a bit – inspired by Bryan Peterson’s cover image on his book “Understanding Exposure” – his classic book on learning manual exposure. Click image to enlarge.
