Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fungus

Really quick late-night post for right now. Went on a Valentine’s Day family hike today on Rattlesnake Mountain just east of Seattle, Washington where I found quite a number of very interesting lichens and some Mycena citrinomarginata mushrooms.  Since I’ve just edited these two images, and am about to head to Oregon at first light to photograph the rocky Pacific Coast for a few days – I thought I’d just share a couple of these now while my food is cooking (so I can travel with pre-made meals). Mycena citrinomarginata

Usually a pale to semi-bright yellow, this small forest-loving mushroom is sometimes a grey-brown to a dark brown when it is found in conifer forests. These pale brown Mycena citrinomarginata mushrooms (no common name) were found growing in a clump about halfway up Washington’s Rattlesnake Mountain on a damp and almost sunny Valentine’s Day.
